Designing Cooperative Organizations for a Sustainable Future – The PDW Approach

Session Date: Thursday, 10 September

3:00pm-5:00pm Pacific Time / 8:00am – 10:00am AEST

Workshop Overview:

Even before the uncertainty created by COVID-19, people were constantly changing their minds about what they believed in. This phenomenon produced an external social environment characterized by discontinuous shifts in values and expectations affecting decisions people make, including decisions about products and services they will buy and use; and how, when and where they will buy them.

Amplifying this discontinuous change has been the arrival of the digital platform revolution, known as ‘Industry 4.0’. As it accelerates there’s a sense of urgency for many organizations to become much more agile because, it’s not a matter if digital technology will turn their businesses upside down, but when.

The responsibility of finding a pathway that will facilitate adapting to the dynamics of this new and challenging environment will typically lie with the STS Community / Organizational Development Management. Big picture thinking STS/OD leaders intuitively know that the forces driving discontinuous change in our business world cannot be successfully responded to via traditional Command and Control structures.

These structures are extremely expensive to manage, slow to respond to change and induce internal competition, pitting employees against each other. To remain viable and prosper in today’s hyper uncertain and unpredictable environment will require the cooperation of the entire workforce.

Continuous adaption methods and organizational designs principles founded in Participation, Cooperation and Distributed Management through an organization’s goals are part of the new paradigm of work that has been unfolding for many years. Now the spotlight is on it again as leaders reimagine how to design their workplaces during and post COVID-19.

This webinar will introduce participants to a proven participative STS method for changing an organization’s design principle, which leads to high levels of cooperation and productivity.

During the webinar you will be introduced to: –

  • The two organizational design principles and their key characteristics
  • The affect they have on employee motivation and wellbeing
  • Resources required to change an organization’s design principle
  • Several recent case studies where businesses significantly improved performance by changing their organizational design principle

At the conclusion of this webinar you will be able to make an informed decision about whether to further explore the benefits of changing organizational design principles.
