January Topic: Taking On Wicked Problems: Designing for Scale – a New Paradigm for Agricultural Labor

On Thursday, January 21 from 10:00am until 11:30am PST, the STS Roundtable hosted another Virtual Water Cooler Conversation! This was an opportunity to gather and talk with colleagues about issues that are important to us.
Our focus in this water cooler session is on Wicked Problems – those huge, multi-faceted, complex, and often overwhelming problems and challenges that confront us in organization and ecosystem design. Our friend and colleague, Erik Nicholson, will lead a session in which we’ll talk about how to deal with the ecosystem surrounding agricultural labor worldwide. What’s working in that ecosystem? What’s not? And what needs to be changed? Can we design a new farm-based, international ecosystem that can exponentially improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of farmworkers in multiple countries? How do we design for scale?
