Find a Mentor in Sociotechnical Systems Design
The STS Roundtable Mentoring Program connects you with experienced members who can share “the ropes to skip, and the ropes to learn,” helping you grow as a researcher or practitioner. It is designed to support the professional development of a new generation of practitioners and researchers, and to help sustain the Socio-Technical Design field and its principles and practices.

♦ PROCESS AND STRUCTURE

Complete and submit the application form

Program Administrator selects 2-3 mentor options and sends them to you

Mentee chooses a potential mentor

Mentor and mentee schedule their meetings and agree on their process

Administrator will organize introductions
♦ TIME INVESTMENT

Initial Time “Contract”: Six months – renewable by mutual agreement by mentee and mentor

Basic commitment between a Mentor and Mentee of 1 hour a month (meeting usually via virtual means) with the opportunity to co-create other arrangements
Mentee and potential Mentor explore their interests, logistics, new potential innovative practices, and feasibility of their developing a mentorship co-learning partnership
During the initial year of a Mentee’s participation in the Mentorship process, if they are not already STSRT members, they will be granted a one-year STSRT membership
♦ FEES
- $50 for Student Mentees,
- $100 for Non-Student Young Professional Mentees (Five years or less experience),
- $200 for experienced Professional Mentees; (Greater than five years experience)
