Navigation

Within the text of most pages of the wiki, there are usually a number of hypertext links (hyperlinks) to other pages. Hyperlinks show as either blue or red text and indicate a topic of interest. Blue links indicate that there is a wiki page with content, whereas red links indicate that no content is supplied for that topic (and is often used as a hint that text needs to be supplied for that topic).

A wiki tends to follow a non-linear approach to site navigation, whereas typical websites use a more hierarchical, structured formal navigation scheme. Navigating around the wiki is simply done by clicking these hyperlinks to explore an area of interest, as with any other website.

Searching

This wiki also offers a search capability that allows for users to search for article titles as well as a full text search of the article content. To search, click in the 'Search' box on the left navigation bar and type in the text of what you want to find. Click 'Go' if you know that the text corresponds to a topic on this site, or 'Search' if you are unsure of where to find the text in the wiki (in which case the wiki will search all topics and article content.

Contributing

One of the most powerful capabilities of a wiki is that is a collaborative tool in that anyone may edit and add to the content of the wiki. Some sites allow anonymous users to do this, but the Roundtable wiki requires users to register on the site. Having an account gives you the option to edit existing content, add new pages, as well as 'watch' pages to be notified of changes to pages in which you are interested.

This is especially useful if you see (red) links that do not have content associated with them and would like to contribute information on that topic, and / or you see some text that is not linked and think that it needs to have information provided on the topic.

How to edit

To edit any content on this site, you must be a registered user of the STS/RT wiki. If you don't think you will want to edit or add to any content on this site, then there is no need to register, and you may just want to start browsing. We hope you are able to benefit from the information contained here while you're on the site.

If you think you may wish to edit content on this site, then please register so that you can continue with the rest of the tutorial. If you are not already registered or logged in, please click the Log in / create account link at the top right corner of any page. You won't be able to (easily) change your username once you choose it, so reading the username policy before creating a username is highly recommended. Once you have registered, you will not be automatically returned to this page, so simply click the Tutorial link on the navigation sidebar on the left of the site, and then continue following the tutorial.
